Comment Visibility: Controlling Who Sees Your Comments
When writing a comment on a request, you can control exactly who can see it. The "Visible to" selector appears above the comment box in two places: the Requests list and inside a specific request.
Visibility options
All groups — The comment is visible to everyone who has access to the request.
My group only — The comment is visible only to members of your own group. A lock icon and "My group only" label appears next to the comment after it's posted, so it's clear to you that it's private.
Custom — Choose one or more specific groups who can see the comment, in addition to your own group. This option only appears if there are other groups with access to the request.
Note: Your own group and admin are always included — you can't post a comment that only others can see.
Seeing who will read your comment before you post
For private comments (My group only or Custom), an audience preview appears below the selector showing the names of the people who will see it. If the list is long, it shows as many names as fit and summarizes the rest (e.g. "+3 more").
Click the audience preview to open a full list, searchable by name, split into:
Your group — members in your own group
Other groups — members from any additional groups you've included (shown with a warning indicator)
If your selection includes people outside your group, a warning badge appears to make that visible at a glance.
How visibility is shown on posted comments
After posting, private comments display a lock icon and the visibility label (e.g. "My group only") next to the author name and timestamp. Public comments show no label.
Default visibility
Admins can set the default visibility for new comments — separately for admin users and non-admin users — under Settings → Requests → Default visibility for comments. Individual users can always override this when writing a comment.
