How do I use Deal Builder (beta)?

Setting up a new room in DealRoom just got faster. With the launch of Deal Builder (beta), corporate development teams can now tap into an AI-powered assistant designed to streamline deal playbook creation. Whether you’re starting fresh or uploading an existing tracker, Deal Builder helps map, refine, and apply your structure—no reformatting required.

By automating your worklist setup using proven best practices, Deal Builder helps eliminate kickoff delays and ensures nothing gets missed.
In this article, we’ll walk you through how to use this new feature to get your next room up and running in minutes.

How do I access room builder?



To access Deal Builder, contact your Customer Success Manager or reach out to our support team to have it enabled.

Create a Room | Within your pipeline, either create a room directly from a deal card (image one) or click New Deal (image two) in the upper right corner of your pipeline view.

Select a Blank Room | When prompted to choose the room type, select Blank Room. This ensures you're starting from an empty space with no preloaded folder structure or tasks.


Launch Deal Builder | After the room is created, you’ll land in your blank room. Click the blue Start with Deal Builder button to begin the setup process.


How to set up a room with Deal Builder


Once you click Start with Deal Builder, a menu will slide in from the right side of the platform. Follow the guided steps below to create a room tailored to your deal, or check out this[ interactive demo ](https://app.storylane.io/share/fdwsc0ctjcpg)to see it in action.

Select Deal Type | Choose the type of deal you're working on—buy-side, sell-side, or other—so the tracker can be customized accordingly. Click Continue.


Verify Company Information | Confirm your company details. If the information is incorrect, click Search Again to update it, then continue. Review and make any necessary edits by clicking the Edit button in the top-right corner. When everything looks correct, click Confirm Target & Continue.


Enter Target Company Info | If you didn’t already input the target company in the deal card, type the target company’s name into the search bar. A list of matches will appear—select the correct one.


Review & Edit Target Info | Once the target’s details are populated, review and make any necessary edits by clicking the Edit button in the top-right corner. When everything looks correct, click Confirm Target & Continue.

Select Deal Stage | Choose the current stage of your deal from the options provided.

Add Deal Rationale | Personalize your deal setup by entering your rationale—your insights and goals help tailor the deal structure to your specific needs. To ensure the build out fits your needs, prompt the builder to expand based on your needs.

Choose Setup Method | Decide how you’d like to build your structure:
Let Deal Builder use AI to generate a custom tracker from scratch, or
Upload your existing checklist and allow Deal Builder to map and enhance it.

Customize with Chat | Deal Builder will generate a personalized tracker. Use the integrated chat to edit, adjust, and refine it based on your needs.


Apply the Tracker | Once you’re happy with the structure, apply the final tracker to your room.


Review & Build Out Data Room Folders | Review your final request structure to ensure everything looks correct. From here, you can go into each request to add details such as descriptions, assignees, reviewers, and due dates. This is also a great time to build a corresponding folder structure in your data room to keep documents organized and aligned with your tracker.
