How to Enable Email Thread Tracking in the DealRoom Outlook Add-in

Email Thread Logging lets you log an entire email conversation to a deal in DealRoom directly from Outlook β€” all messages in the thread, in one action.

Without this feature enabled, you can only log the single email you have open. With thread logging enabled, the full conversation history is captured at once, giving your deal a complete communication record for quick access.

Thread logging is always user-initiated. Nothing is captured unless you actively choose to log a conversation through the add-in.


How to Enable It

This is a one-time setup by your organization's Microsoft 365 admin.

Approve the permission in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center:

  1. In the left sidebar, go to Settings > Integrated apps

  2. Click DealRoom in the app list

  3. A banner will say "DealRoom has updates pending."

  4. Click Know more and update and accept the updated permissions

Once the banner disappears, the update is complete. It may take up to 24 hours to reach all users. If a user does not see the feature, restarting Outlook should resolve it.

If the permission is not approved: the add-in continues to work for logging individual emails. Thread logging will not be available until the permission is accepted.


Security and Privacy

Thread logging only accesses emails within the specific conversation you choose to log. DealRoom does not scan, index, or access any other emails in your mailbox β€” inbox, sent items, or otherwise. No data is read unless you initiate the action through the add-in.

To review the exact permissions granted to DealRoom at any time:

  1. Navigate to Identity > Applications > Enterprise applications

  2. Find and click DealRoom

  3. Open Permissions in the sidebar
