How do I permanently delete data from the Trash in the Data Room?
Moving files to the Trash in the platform does not permanently delete them. They remain recoverable and still count against your data storage. In this article, we’ll show you how to permanently delete files from the Trash to improve security, maintain compliance, and free up storage space.
How to Permanently Delete Documents in the Trash
- Go to the Data Room tab in your room.
- In the left-hand panel, click the Trash icon below the folder list. This opens the Archived Files view.
- Review the list of deleted items. You’ll see details like Index, Title, Size, and Uploaded Date.
- Click the checkbox next to a file’s Index number to select it.
- Once selected, the toolbar at the top will activate options: Download Selected, Restore, and Delete Permanently.
- To permanently remove the file(s), click Delete Permanently in the toolbar.
- Once you click Delete Permanently, a confirmation popup will appear. Read the warning carefully, then confirm to complete the deletion.
- Once confirmed, the selected items will be permanently removed from the Trash.
- The deletion will be recorded in the Audit Log, which you can access by going to Reports > Audit Logs in your room settings. This log provides a clear record of the action for compliance and tracking purposes.
