How do I set the Close Date field for the pipeline timeline
The Pipeline Timeline in DealRoom provides a visual representation of your deals and their progression through various stages. The "Close Date" is a critical component, allowing you to track and forecast deal finalization. This document outlines how to create the "Close Date" custom field and how to set or update it on the Pipeline Timeline.
Part 1: Creating the "Close Date" Custom Field
The "Close Date" custom field tracks the anticipated or actual closing date for deals or projects. This aids in monitoring progress, managing timelines, and generating reports.
Steps:
In DealRoom, go to the left-hand navigation menu and click "Settings".
At the top of the Settings page, click the "Custom Fields" tab.
Click "Add Field +" to open the "Add Field" dialog.
Type the name of the deal milestone that you prefer to signify the close date of a deal (i.e. Signing/Close, Close Date, etc.) (The asterisk (*) indicates this field is required).
Click the "Field Type" dropdown and choose "Date". This ensures only date values can be entered.
Click "Create". The field is now added.
Confirm the new field is in your Custom Fields list.
Part 2: Setting the "Close Date" on the Pipeline Timeline
Within the "Settings" section, make sure the "General" tab at the top is selected.
Scroll down until you find the section labeled "Deals Timeline Fields".
Click on the input field to open a dropdown menu with various date field options.
In the dropdown menu, click on the date field you prefer. Your selected option will have a checkmark next to it.
By following these steps, you will have set the designated the close date field for your Pipeline Timeline. Remember that while this guide uses "Close Date" as an example, you can select any other applicable date field you've created that better reflects your specific goals or key milestones, such as "Signing/Close Date," "Completion Date," or any other term relevant to your workflow.
