I can't upload a file or document

Issues Uploading Files or Documents



Encountering difficulties while uploading files or documents to DealRoom? Here's a troubleshooting guide to help you resolve the issue:

Upload Permissions:



Folder Permissions: If you see a message stating "Please contact a room administrator to get upload access to this folder" or "Uploads are not permitted to any folder", you do not have the necessary permissions to upload documents to the selected folder or the Data Room as a whole.



Solution: Contact a room administrator to request upload permissions. They can adjust the settings to grant you access. To find the administrators in the group, navigate to Members > Administrator



If you are an admin:



To allow users in a certain group to upload files to a specific folder:

Navigate to the "Permissions" tab within the DealRoom project.
Select the group from the left sidebar.
Click on the "Data Room" tab.
Locate the folder you want to grant upload access to.
Click the "Edit" (pencil) icon next to the folder. This will toggle the "Edit (Full access)" permission on (turning it blue).
Click the "Save changes" button in the upper right corner to apply the changes.


Note: By enabling the "Edit" permission, you are granting users in that specific group the ability to move, upload, overwrite, delete, edit the index, and rename files and folders within that specific folder.

Document Troubleshooting



If you've confirmed you have the necessary permissions and are still encountering issues, here are some additional steps to try:

Source of Upload: Ensure you're uploading files directly from a local drive on your computer, rather than from a shared drive like Google Drive or SharePoint.

File Security: Confirm that the documents you're attempting to upload are neither password protected nor encrypted. Such security measures can sometimes hinder the upload process.

Web Browser: Consider using Google Chrome as your web browser if you're not already doing so. Some browser compatibility issues may impact file uploads.

Note: The size limit for an individual file is 4GB.

Common Errors:



Files uploading as 0kb: This is usually due to the files being uploaded from a shared drive. Please upload them from a local drive to fix this issue.
