Admin vs User View in DealRoom

In DealRoom, we understand the critical importance of security and privacy controls, especially in the context of confidential M&A deals. Our platform provides robust features that allow administrators to tailor the viewing experience for different users, ensuring that sensitive information is accessed only by those authorized.

Differences Between Admin and User View in DealRoom

As Admins, you can use the Permissions feature to control what users see in DealRoom, whether that be your internal team or external stakeholders. Here are some of the main differences between the Administrator and User viewing experience.

Admin View

Here is an example of what an Admin can observe in a project room.

User View

Here is an example of what a User can see in that same room.

Notice the main differences:
Top Navigation Bar: A User will have access to less tabs at the top (i.e. Requests, Data Room, and Members).
Worklists: A User might only be able to see certain worklists.
Rooms: A User might have access to less rooms than an Admin.

Note: Some Users might have access to the Pipeline, granting them additional tabs on the left navigation bar.

User Without Pipeline Access View

Here is an example of a User who doesn't have pipeline access. Notice how there are fewer tabs on the left menu.

Other examples of possible viewing differences

In addition to the distinctions mentioned above, variations in viewing experiences may extend to:
Groups: Users might not have visibility of all groups in the project room.
Folders & Documents: Users may be restricted from viewing all files and folders in the Data Room.
Comments: Users might not be able to see all comments made, especially those made privately.

Pipeline Views

Both admins and users may have different pipeline access.

Admin View

This is an example of an admin who has full access to the pipeline.

To give someone the above access, they need to be an administrator of the pipeline. This is set in the Settings > Pipeline Access > Permission Set.

User View

This is an example of an admin or user who has limited access to certain deals in the pipeline. Notice that they don't have certain tabs on the left menu (Reports or Settings).
