How to Manage Request/Task Status

In DealRoom, statuses help you track the progress of your tasks and requests, keeping your team on the same page. While we provide some default options, you can also create and manage custom statuses to fit your unique workflow.

Note: Only admins have the ability to create, edit, or delete statuses.

Status Types: The Basics

Before you create a new status, it's helpful to understand the four main status types:

  • Open: For a new request that hasn't been started yet.
  • In Progress: For a request that is actively being worked on.
  • Reopened: For a resolved request that needs more attention.
  • Resolved: For a request that has been completed.

Keep in mind that you must have at least one status of each type in your room at all times.

How to Create a Custom Status

Creating new statuses gives you a more detailed view of your progress. Here's how:

  1. From the left menu, go to Settings, then select the General tab.
  2. Scroll down to the Request Statuses section.
  3. Click the New status + button.
  4. In the pop-up window, enter a name (max 12 characters), select a type, and choose a color. For brand consistency, you can even enter specific hex codes to get the exact color you want.
  5. Click the blue Create button.

Once created, your new status will be available for everyone on your team to use.

How to Edit or Delete a Status

You can manage existing statuses in the same Request Statuses section.

  • To edit a status, click the Edit button next to it and make your changes.
  • To delete a status, click the Delete button.

Note: You can't delete a default status if it's the only one of its type in your room.

How to Apply a Status to a Request

After you've created or updated a status, you can assign it to any request. Just open the request and use the dropdown menu to select the correct status.
