Q: What is DealRoom, and what makes it different?
A: DealRoom is the only M&A platform specifically designed for Buyer-Led M&A™, a comprehensive framework that empowers buyers throughout their deals. It streamlines deal execution by:
Centralizing M&A Activities: Providing a single, purpose-built platform for all M&A activities, serving as a central source of truth for deal data and communication among deal teams, sellers, and integration teams.
Automating Manual Tasks: Utilizing intelligent workflows, including templated rooms, bulk updates, and AI-powered contact analysis.
Aligning Deal Stakeholders: Offering an intuitive user interface, comprehensive reporting, granular permissions, and dedicated M&A project management features such as notifications, tagging, and alerts.
Q: Can I move a deal between different organizations within DealRoom?
A: Currently, direct deal migration between organizations is not supported. However, you can download materials from one room and upload them to a new room in the other organization. This article provides guidance: How do I import and export deals in the pipeline?
Q: Is it possible to move documents from one deal room to another?
A: There isn't a direct option to move documents between rooms at this time. A simple workaround is to bulk download the documents from the original room and then upload them to the new room. Refer to this article for instructions: How do I bulk download the Data Room?
Q: How can I copy requests from one deal room to another?
A: You can export all requests from one room and import them into another. Alternatively, when creating a new deal, you can select "Copy Room" and choose to copy specific items, including request lists and permission groups. See this article for more details: How do I export requests?
Q: Can we restrict the modification of priority status for requests to Admins only?
A: Currently, the request functionality operates on an "all or nothing" basis, meaning all users can adjust the priority. However, you can monitor changes to the status by using the "Show Activity" box in the comments section.
Q: How are worklists linked to folders in the data room?
A: Worklists and folders are linked within the system by their titles. We recommend ensuring that the titles are an exact match.
Q: Are there any limitations to the functionality of the free trial?
A: Each free trial is customized to the user's specific needs to allow for a comprehensive evaluation of the solution.
Q: Does DealRoom offer a translation feature?
A: Yes, a language switcher has been added to user settings, allowing users to select their preferred language for the platform interface. Currently, only English to French translation is available, and only the authentication and "Room" sections are translated. The "Pipeline" section remains in English.
Q: What is the difference between an admin and a room owner?
A: A room owner is an administrator who cannot be removed from the room because they created it. Otherwise, their access and permissions are identical to other administrators.
Q: How can I change an existing room owner?
A: Changing a room owner requires backend intervention. A current administrator or the existing room owner can submit a request to have the room owner changed.
Q: What is the difference between a dynamic and a static watermark?
A: The dynamic watermark is the default setting and includes the email address of the user who accessed the document, the date and time of access, and their IP location. A static watermark is a single, customizable word, such as "Confidential."

Q: Can I upload a ZIP folder to DealRoom?
A: Yes, you can upload ZIP folders. However, they will remain as ZIP files within DealRoom, and users who download them will also receive a ZIP file.
Q: How can I access the M&A playbooks and templates? Which ones are available?

Q: Does DealRoom charge per page in the Data Room?
A: No, we do not charge based on the number of pages. Our pricing is based on overall data usage.
Q: I am receiving a "subscription over usage" or "activate subscription" message. What does this mean?
A: This message indicates that your data usage has exceeded the limit included in your current plan. Data usage is calculated daily, so you will only be charged for the days you are over the limit. Your usage will return to normal once you delete data, and you will not incur further charges unless you exceed the limit again. Data overage fees are included in your invoice at the end of the year.
Q: Do you have a list of supported file types for uploading and downloading?
A: Technically, our platform supports the upload and download of all file types. However, the online viewer is optimized for specific spreadsheets, documents, and images.
Q: Is there a way to copy permissions from one user group to another?
A: We do not currently offer a direct function to copy permissions between groups. However, you can copy an existing group by navigating to the "Permissions" tab, then the "Groups" tab, and clicking on the "triple dots" next to the group name you wish to copy.
Q: How does the "inherit folder permissions" setting function?
A: When "inherit folder permissions" is enabled, any user who uploads a file to a folder will automatically inherit the permission settings already established for that user within that specific folder. For example, if a group does not have permission to view a particular folder, they will also not be able to see any new documents uploaded into that folder.
Q: Can I upload a document without sending notifications to everyone?
A: Yes, as an administrator, when uploading a document in the data room, you can uncheck the "Notify selected groups" box to prevent automatic notifications. Individual users can also manage their own notification preferences in their user settings.
Q: Do hyperlinks work within the data room viewer?
A: No, hyperlinks are not active within the data room viewer. To use hyperlinks, you will need to download the file.
